Originally launched as a section in New York Magazine in 1971, Ms. is a publication recognized as a source of third wave feminism. Instead of writing about the standard cosmetics and raising babies that women were traditionally exposed to through magazines, Ms. had articles about everything from abortions to domestic violence. Within its first couple of weeks, it had over 26,000 subscriptions.
"Ms. was the first national magazine to make feminist voices audible, feminist journalism tenable, and a feminist worldview available to the public."
Although many anti-feminists were against the idea of this publication, it is still alive and well today. Their offices can be found in Los Angeles, CA and Arlington, VA, and they continue to win awards by fighting for women to have a fair voice in society. This unique read is still expressing the woman's point of view.
